Dear Screaming Eagles Families,

Wow!  What a season we had!  Here are some highlights:

  • We had 170 athletes this year!  We’d like to thank all the families for allowing your children to play with Screaming Eagles

  • We had 10 teams, and every team played in at least one championship game.  Most teams made it to multiple championship games!  It was a very successful season!

  • We were the first organization to use the Robert Morris facility for the older divisions.  Given the positive feedback - we were able to raise the bar for tournament play in the Pittsburgh area, as other teams had subsequently used that same venue.

  • This year we had a record number of athletes make elite teams such as Team PA, Team NY, and even Team USA

  • We also had a record number of girls join our program in the chipmunk level and we are so excited to see more and more girls joining the sport

Looking forward to the 2023 season, here is what you can expect:

  • 2023 Season Investment:  We heard your distaste for the pay-to-play structure and we are moving back to a lump sum payment.  Investment for the 2023 season is as follows:

    • Chipmunk:  $300 (includes uniforms, practices, team snap, and 5 tournaments + home tournament)

    • Penguin, Beaver, Cadet:  $350 cash or check at time of acceptance OR $400 divided into two Team Snap payments - one at the time of acceptance + one in February.  Payment includes uniforms, practices, team snap fees, and 5 tournaments + home tournament

    • Freshmen:  $300 (includes uniforms, practices, team snap, 4 tournaments + home tournament)

    • Note:  while this might seem like a cost increase, it truly is not.  This past year we charged $150 up front + $35/tournament.  Most teams attended at least 7 tournaments, with many attending more.  Using Penguin Gold as an example - they attended 10 tournaments; so they paid $350 for tournament fees + $150 up front for a total cost of $500.  So for several teams, reverting the pay structure will actually result in a cost decrease.

  • Volunteer Fee:  In 2021 we had a volunteer fee & although we did have sufficient volunteers for that season, families did not like that concept.  So we listened to our families and did away with the volunteer fee for the 2022 season.  We are disappointed to report though that in our organization with over 300 parents, we were only able to field less than 50 parent volunteers for the season, with most of those being team managers, board members, and coaches.  Due to this shortage, we had to hire help for score-keeping, concessions, etc. during our home tournament.  As a result, we must re-institute the volunteer fee for the 2023 season.  The volunteer fee will be $100, payable at your first practice by check or cash.  Volunteer requirements are a 2-hour volunteer obligation, and you will receive your $100 back once you’ve completed those requirements.  We will ask during the acceptance process what volunteer tasks you might be interested in.  Parents who do not wish to volunteer can opt to pay the fee and not be concerned with any volunteer hours.  The volunteer fee will then be used to hire additional help as necessary throughout the season.

  • Tryout Clinics: We will be hosting tryout clinics on Sunday September 25th at the Graham Park Dek.  This will be for chipmunk, penguin, beaver, and all age goalie athletes.  The clinics are at no cost to our families and each child registered before the deadline will receive a free tee shirt.  If you register after the deadline, your child will not receive a shirt but is still welcome to participate!  Eagles will provide assorted beverages (water, Gatorade, etc.), as well as assorted snacks (chips, goldfish, etc.)  Deadline to register is September 2, 2022.

  • Chipmunk: 9am – 10am

  • Penguin:  10am – 11am

  • Beaver:  11am – 12pm

  • Goalie:  12pm – 1pm

  • Tryouts:  Tryout dates have been scheduled!  All the tryouts this year will be at Graham Park.  It is not mandatory to attend all tryout sessions, but it is encouraged to attend as many as possible.  Please bring a light and dark colored shirt for tryouts.  You must arrive at your tryouts 20 minutes prior to your first session to get your bib number.  You must keep the same bib number for every tryout.  Note the bib number as this is what is posted on the website.  Parents must register their athlete using the link in the tryout email, registrations can also be found on our website.
